I love facts. You know, they say that being a woman is a fact, but being a lady is an art. Hey, I’ll admit that I’m still learning the art (I’m not sure yet whether this art includes lower back tattoos). But the facts? I realized that after carrying around my very own pair of x-chromosomes for more than two decades, I’m still learning the kind of things that every woman (and woman-appreciator) should know all along. And you know what? The more that I talked to the women in my life, the more I realized that I’m not alone.
So, on behalf of womankind, I decided to go on a quest: a quest to find the ten things that all women need to know—and don’t.
Like all good quests, my quest began on the internet. Unfortunately for me, the more that I looked, the less I seemed to find. Enter “Little known facts about being a woman” in your search engine and you’ll find something that goes a little like this: “Girls melt when you hold their hand,” “Girls love it when you play with their hair,” and “If she asks you if she’s fat, tell her she’s beautiful.”
This might be good if I’m trying to seduce a seventh grade girl with self-esteem issues but LADIES. This. Cannot. Be the best advice that we have for each other. So I’m taking it into my own hands—and putting it into yours. In the next ten weeks I’m going to be hitting up my friends, family, strangers, experts, and you. I’ll be asking doctors, lawyers—and yes, even some gentlemen—what we need to know. And together, come hell or high water, we’re going to find out the facts.
